Recipe: Savory and Sweet Salad

A couple of weeks ago my friend Kelly decided to put walnuts and watermelon in our salad. Tonight I decided to do my own interpretation and it takes no more then 5 minutes.

Ingredients
Sliced Cooked Minute Steak
Fresh Spinach
Watermelon
Salted Cashews
Shredded Parmesan Cheese
1-2 Tbsp Olive Oil

Literature: "Power Dressing: First Ladies, Women Politicians & Fashion"

Robb Young gives an analysis of the majority of power women in the world and what wardrobe pieces achieve the control. He begins in 1,489 BC with Egyptian Queen, Hatshepsut. Power dressing back then was a bare chest, shendyt kilt, false metal beard and a cobra inspired headdress. Then he moves into Marie Antoinette and Queen Elizabeth I. Both women included full dresses, extreme make-up and bold collars in their wardrobe.

Jacqueline Kennedy, Princess Diana, Hillary Clinton, Margaret Thatcher and Condoleezza Rice are a few examples of power women from the 1960s and today. Colors that these ladies have identified as commanding are: royal blue, crimson and Marigold. Finally, Robb Young has determined a few other power pieces to include in your look. Adventures of Last Week

Before going to the MoMa, I stopped at the library on 42nd and 5th to see the Shelley's Ghost exhibit. It's a really small room but it has many interesting writings to look at.

My friend Tomek and I stopped at the vintage inspired Empire Room for drinks. My martini tasted exactly like an orange creamsicle!

While in the mood for Jazz music, we had dinner at the Garage. I recommend getting the calamari and mushroom ravioli!

Museum Exhibit: Print/Out

On the sixth floor of the MoMa, Print/Out examines the evolution of printmaking techniques.

One section of the exhibit is completely dedicated to Super Flex's Super Copy lamp shade project. You get to make these simple lamp shades that will become a part of the exhibit then auctioned off to charity in May. The idea behind this project is to question copyrighting and identify if a copy of a copy is a copy.

The Arts: Andy Warhol

Since Andy Warhol was once of the first artist to incorporate screen printing in his work, I thought it was only fitting to feature him in today's post. The above photographs are of two of his more well known pieces and you can find them in the painting and sculpture section of the MoMa.
